THCA Laws in Mississippi β€” Full Breakdown

Mississippi's SB 2725 defines total THC as delta-9 THC plus a THCA conversion factor, making THCA flower non-compliant as a hemp product. The bill effectively closed the hemp-channel THCA market by applying a total THC threshold that commercial flower cannot meet.

Mississippi's Attorney General issued a June 2025 opinion further restricting cannabis products to FDA-approved items or those sold through the state's licensed medical marijuana channels. This opinion reinforces the ban on hemp-derived THCA from general retail.

Mississippi does have a medical marijuana program, and qualifying patients may access THCA through licensed medical dispensaries. However, the hemp retail channel for THCA is closed. There is no recreational marijuana option in Mississippi.

What Is THCA and Why Does Legality Matter?

THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid) is the raw, non-psychoactive form of THC found in fresh cannabis. Under the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp plants containing ≀0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight are federally legal β€” regardless of THCA content. When THCA is smoked or vaped, heat converts it to psychoactive delta-9 THC through a process called decarboxylation.

Some states have added "total THC" standards that count THCA toward the THC limit. Others have banned smokable hemp specifically. The legal status of THCA varies by state and is subject to change as legislatures continue to address hemp regulations.

All Leaflyx products are federally compliant hemp with COA documentation.
