Decarboxylation

The chemical process of removing a carboxyl group from THCA, converting it into the psychoactive compound THC. Decarboxylation occurs when cannabis is heated — through smoking, vaporizing, or cooking. Raw THCA flower is not psychoactive until it undergoes decarboxylation.
